The first project in my Housekeeping Winter Reset was to tackle our Pantry. While I do like my spaces to look "aesthetically pleasing," I am 100% about function and maintenance in places like the pantry. I implemented a lot of these systems last year after our kitchen and mudroom/pantry was repainted. This clean-out was proof that the systems are still working because this was a quick job.
I took everything out, threw away plenty, wiped down shelves, and restocked the dry essentials we use all of the time - nuts, dried fruit, chocolate chips, etc. I still need to go to the store to restock our canned items like tomatoes, grains & beans.

I keep our dry goods in our Plastic Kitchen Containers because I hate the little bags - how they spill out after you open them, how difficult they are to keep stacked up. I don't decant everything unless it is actually helpful, and this is 100% better than those tiny bags.

Too many baskets and bins can get in the way, but this system of one in each area helps me keep like things together and gives the space a little structure.

I did add this basket for the cleaning supplies and it is so much better than before.

Above, I keep my favorite vessels for flowers and my collection of vintage Martha Stewart Living Magazines and...

My Barefoot Contessa Cookbooks. The rest are in the kitchen, in current use.

One week down, 11 to go!
